Behind “The Onion”

This flash fiction piece (or prose poem, as I prefer) was published in the literary journal Borderless on February 16, 2026. You can read it HERE.

I wrote this in August, 2025 at the heights (or depths) of the Gaza War. I felt a great sense of urgency in getting it out. I submitted it to more than a dozen literary journals and/or contests before it was accepted on January 2, 2026 by Borderless. I am thankful to Borderless for bringing it out in their most recent issue. This piece has been close to my heart, wanting to be read for a long time, too long.
